About Us
City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club is a competitive Trampoline & DMT Club based in Scotland. At present, it has around 160 members ranging in age from 2 years (© Bouncing Babes) to Adults.
The Club currently has two training venues -The Lasswade Centre, Midlothian and Meadowmill Sports Centre, just off the City Bypass, near Tranent, East Lothian.
The Club use 4 Eurotramp 6x4 trampolines at Lasswade, together with our own 2 4x4 Eurotramps, making a total of 6 competition spec trampolines for use at training sessions. At Meadowmill, we have the use of 2 5x4 Gymnova trampolines.
CETC also offer training in DMT (double-mini trampoline) and use 4 DMT’s – 2 at Lasswade, 1 at Meadowmill and 1 at Preston Lodge (Active Schools). Classes in trampolining & DMT run 6 days a week, and all of the classes are mixed ages & abilities (unless specified e.g. © Bouncing Babes, Squad sessions etc) which allows the less experienced gymnast to train alongside the high performers, and see what can be achieved! Having mixed classes also makes it easier for siblings to train together. Although the Club has many members - the ratio of coach: gymnasts is never more than 1:6 – and is often less, allowing quality, individual coaching from their large team of excellent, experienced coaches.
All CETC coaches hold SG/BG Coaching qualifications, and many add-on modules such as Child Protection, First Aid, Disabilities, Gymnastics, Judging, & SG Tutoring & Mentoring. The Club has always had a policy of encouraging teenage members, who may have reached the point of ‘giving up’ their trampolining/DMT, to gain their Coaching & Judging qualifications. Many do this, keeping their knowledge & experience within the Club, and passing it on to other members, whilst retaining their own interest in the sport.
As a competitive Trampoline & DMT Club, CETC encourage all of their members – from beginners to Elite performers – to take part in all Grading Assessments, competitions & events throughout each year.
The Club takes part in all 4 Scottish Gymnastics (SG) Trampoline Grading Assessments throughout the year, and participates in the new competition structure of DMT Grading Assessments, of which there are also 4 each year. The major event of the year on the SG calendar is the Scottish National Championships, which takes place at the end of the season. This competition is by qualification only, and incorporates both Trampolining & DMT - with Tumbling also now included.
CETC also compete on the British circuit, enabling those who reach NDP 6 & above, to compete at Spring Series events, of which there are 3 each year, culminating in the annual British National Championships in July, usually held in Birmingham. Selection for the British Championships, also requires a qualifying score to be attained from participation at Spring Series events throughout the season.
The Club took part in its first International competition in September 2013, at The Loule Cup, in Portugal, winning an individual silver medal in DMT, and a Team bronze. Selected GB DMT Squad members took part in The Loule Cup in October 2015, 2017 & 2018, which included members of CETC.
In 2014, a CETC gymnast was selected for the GB DMT Squad & subsequently qualified for the World Age Group Championships, which were held in Florida, USA. In 2015. Two CETC gymnasts were selected for the GB DMT Squad, both qualifying for the World Age Group Championships, held in Odense, Denmark in December 2016. One of the gymnasts was then selected for the World Age Group Championships held in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2017, subsequently winning the World Age Group title in the Womens 17-21 DMT category.
CETC are actively involved in the East Lothian Active Schools Trampoline programme, providing coaching in Trampolining at Knox Academy, Musselburgh Grammar, Preston Lodge, Ross High & Dunbar Grammar, for the High schools & feeder Primary schools. Coaches from the Club also run recreational classes for Enjoy Leisure at Meadowmill Sports Centre.
The Club hosts the annual Midlothian School Competition at Lasswade, in partnership with Midlothian Council . The Club Championships, also held annually, is a fun day of competitions & activities, exclusively for Club members, and is usually also held at Lasswade.
Club Committee representatives regularly attend meetings of local support groups, including the East Lothian Gymnastics Development Forum (ELGDF), Prestonpans & District Community Sports Hub, The Lasswade Community Sports Hub, Midlothian Gymnastics Forum & Clubsport Edinburgh.
CETC is justifiably proud of its outstanding reputation for friendliness, inclusiveness, and excellent performance results. The Club really values parental input, and likes parents to be involved as much as possible in supporting their child’s development and experience at the Club – on the Committees, with fundraising, and taking an active role in helping out at competitions & events. CETC strongly believe that parental involvement is essential in ensuring the success of both the gymnasts & the Club.
The Club coaches are always happy to discuss the progress of any youngster with them & their parents, and can arrange this after classes, or at a pre-arranged time. Answers to most questions which parents are likely to ask, can usually be found on the Club website, or by e-mailing the Club Secretary (secretary@cityofedinburghtrampolineclub.co.uk )
