OPEN WARM UPS

The Trampoline Technical Panel has decided to adopt the “Open Warm Up’s” system as used by British Gymnastics at their Assessment Days and Gala Weekends.
- This means that each group of gymnasts are given a set time in which to warm up. The time is set according to the number of gymnasts in the group and the Level at which they are bouncing.
- This does not mean that it is a free for all. The warm ups will still be managed by Marshalls to ensure the system is not being abused. The maximum time gymnasts should be on the trampoline for a single warm up is 30 seconds. The Chair of Judges (CoJ) can impose a penalty of 0.3 marks on any one who stays on longer.
- At the start of each flight the CoJ and the Marshalls can adjust the warm up time depending on the number of drop outs from a group. For instance if a group has 12 entries and are allocated a warm up time of 30 minutes and only 8 gymnasts turn up then the time will be adjusted down to 20 minutes.
- As each gymnast is offered two trampolines on which to bounce then if they all choose to bounce on the same trampoline then they will get fewer warm ups than if the gymnasts were split evenly between the two trampolines.
- Coaches are reminded that this is a warm up period and not an opportunity for them to coach their gymnast.
- Could coaches also remind their gymnasts that there is a warm up area behind the judge’s platform for gymnasts to do warm up exercises on the floor?
- This is not a play area for the siblings of gymnasts who are not competing.
- Coaches should also note that groups some will warm up during the time that the Officials take their lunch.
- Marshalls should ensure that at least one of them is present during lunch time warm ups (i.e. take their lunch at separate times).
- The gymnasts are allowed a “one touch warm up” before their first routine, but there is no warm up between the first and second routines.
- At Levels where the gymnasts do a third routine, a one touch routine is allowed before their final routine.
